The ATA recognizes that turf management is a very diverse field which requires you to have a wide array of skills.  We think it’s time you were recognized for your hard work and talent.

ATA Awards are presented in three divisions – Lawn, Golf & Sports. Send your entries with the following information:

ATA Field of the Year

Football / Soccer or Baseball / Softball
Fields must be two years or older and under the continuous care of the entrant for at least two years. Complexes of fields may be entered as one entry, pro-videoed pictures or slides can be included of entire complex.

No more than 25 color photos from the last 12 months can be submitted. These must include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Overall field from top of stands, behind outfield fence, behind home plate or from end zone
  • Infield and outfield grass, sideline areas in front of dugouts and around home plate
  • Center of field between hash marks and sideline areas
  • Goal areas and middle of field
  • Maintenance crew working with equipment on the field

Narrative descriptions of field not to exceed three double-spaced pages.

  • Age of field
  • Geographic location (city and part of state)
  • Description of maintenance program and equipment used
  • Supplies used
  • Operating budget for field
  • Irrigation: automatic, manual or none
  • Total number of maintenance personnel for field
  • Does field have lighting for night games
  • Number of events and months of use on field per year
  • Why do you think the field is one of the best

 

ATA Golf Course of the Year

Private/Resort or Public/Municipal
Include no more than 25 color photos from the last 12 months.  This project needs to include photos of:

  • Tee boxes
  • Fairways
  • Greens
  • Roughs, out of bounds and hazards
  • Irrigation
  • Practice areas
  • Drainage
  • Photos of crew members working with equipment

Include a narrative description of the facility not to exceed three double spaced pages. Indicate how this facility meets the needs of your clientele.

  • Age of facility
  • Geographic location (city and part of state)
  • Operating budget
  • Type of irrigation
  • Total number of maintenance personnel for facility
  • Why do you think the facility is one of the best

 

ATA Turf Site of the Year
Commercial or Residential Site
Site must be at least two years old and under the continuous care of the entrant for at least two years. There are two categories: Under 10,000 sq. ft. and 10,000 sq. ft. and above.

Include no more than 25 color photos from the last 12 months. You may include the following:
Pictures of grass from different angles around the area

  • Crew members working with equipment
  • Maintenance practices such as mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizing, safety, etc.

Include a narrative description of your entry not to exceed three double-spaced pages.

  • Type of turfgrass
  • Description of maintenance program and equipment used
  • Supplies used
  • Irrigation: automatic, manual, or none
  • Operating budget for area maintained
  • Total number of maintenance staff
  • Special challenges or problems
  • Why do you think this turf space is one of the best

Every year the Arkanasas Turfgrass Association awards $1,000 or more to a deserving turfgrass student enrolled in the turfgrass program at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.   Additionally we donate funds for specific turfgrass research projects.
